The Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 is looking for public comment on this legislation to be implemented 1/1/2010 please let your voice be heard louder then those of insurance companies http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2009-04-28/pdf/E9-9629.pdf

- i dont have them from the clinic, only what the coroner did. i would like to get the clinic record but i wasnt for sure if i could. i havent talked to the ones on this website but i will. honestly im not sure why she was going there cause we were fighting the last month she was alive. i had heard through some of her friends that she was doing oxycontin and chewing on pain patches but i dont know for sure. i didnt like the people she was hanging with cause they were junkies so i dont know anything for sure. but if she was on something else it seems like it would have shown up in her bloodwork from the coroner.

- yes they did a urine test and i have her toxicology reports that were done that saturday and it showed marijuana, xanax and methadone. i appreciate any advice or help. i feel robbed. i have contacted an attorney but they say no attorney will go up against them.

- i live in indiana. I didnt contact them but they know because she had friends that went there also and they told them. they didnt contact us and ive been so angry i would have said something crazy. ive never heard of xanax addiction being treated with methadone and i dont think they should have treated her at all. they tell drug addicts to take methadone and dont take anything else but i know plenty of their patients that still do drugs while on it. my sister walked around like a zombie the whole week that she went there. a drug like that should not be given to people, especially outpatient . i want to do all i can to try to bring awareness to this and im so glad i found this website.

LOL I didn't realize you were the same melissa at first untill i saw the link to Rons memorial page. My mind has seriously been so scrambled for the past 3 months. Our stories are so similar. I can't beleive they both were addicted to pain pills from knee surgery and both passed after 3 days on methadone. I'm so glad I met you. I'm not glad by any means about what has happened to you but i guess I'm just glad I'm not alone. Thanks so much for sharing your story with me.

- Thanks, I cant take credit for his memorial video though, his family actually put it together. It still makes me cry every time i watch it. The memorial page for Ron is really nice. I think his family is in the process of putting together a memorial page as well. So sorry for your loss. You guys looked really happy from the pics on his page.

Naomi Dillingham said… - I am from Kingsley a small village in Northern Michigan. Methadone abuse is rampant in our area especially among our young people. It is being passed out like candy. My brother died in 05 and there has been several deaths since his....2 in just this last week on the same day! When my brother died they chalked it up to a bad mistake....Now that there has been at least 5 in the last year (not to mention the many in between then and now) they are starting to take it a little more seriously. However my belief is that this is a doctor issue. My brother got his pill from a 15 year old girl who had her own prescription for methadone, along with her mother. My best friend was addicted to methadone she got hers from a neighbor who was selling her own prescription. This is what is happening all over up here, and I'm sure many other places. I can't make the rally this year, but am planning now to make it next year. DC needs to hear what is going on, money aside..........our young people are dying needlessly......
